Android tablets are becoming quite famous the last couple of months and with the upcoming release of Android 3.0 we expect many more updates and upgrades. If you are still planning to buy a Tablet but you are not comfortable with the iPad, then an android tablet is your pick. They definitely have a lot to offer from a variety of manufacturers and with better price list. What more can you ask for? May be for an exciting new OS with innovative UI and features? Well, they have that too!

The newest Android 3.0 operating system aka Honeycomb will signal the start of a long battle for dominating the tablet market; a battle for 2 opponents, Android and Apple.

Built especially for tablets, the Android 3.0 Honeycomb has something to offer to everyone. For kids who love a full game experience, for students who need them for lessons and studies, for business men with thousands of apps related to stocks and other business related matters, and of course for developers and programmers, whom they give full control experience. And remember, these are such features that have every chance of making these new breed of Android tablets the proverbial iPad Killers!

New Exciting Features of what Android 3.0 Can Offer:

Faster Performance – 3D Graphics

Faster tablet experience would be very evident on these new tablets. The different tablets that will run Honeycomb would mostly use a Tegra 2 dual core processor. Let’s take for example the much awaited Motorola Xoom coming in a couple of weeks. The XOOM will be the first to host Android 3.0 and will be powered by Tegra 2 dual processor. When you think about iPad’s A4 processor which is a single processor, android tablets has gone a long way already with its dual core technology on tablets.

The hippest Google maps now in 3D!

Yep you can now turn, rotate, zoom in and out, and see actual buildings while you’re travelling or while visiting a foreign country. The GPS system of the Android Tablets is still the best, now with its online and offline capability you can actually use Google maps offline while using the latest update from the previous online connection. Travelling and going to your spot never made this easy.

New optimized applications for Android 3.0

Although Google announced that the applications currently in the android market will ‘run well’ on Android 3.0 tablets, it is a fact that applications developed with a version older than 3.0 do not take advantage of the bigger screens and other features of tablets. This situation will change very soon since both Google and all major software developers started developing applications optimized for 3.0. We have already seen last week optimized applications by CNN, Weather Bug, 3D Games and this is an indication on how quickly the market will respond to the demand for android 3.0 applications. Do not also forget that Google is about to hire a couple of thousands of developers to re-enforce and speed-up the development of android applications.

Certainly Apple will not abandon the tablet market so easily; on the contrary we should expect many new features (both hardware and software) for the iPad 2. The next months will be very interesting for the tablet world and tablet enthusiasts will be very excited.
